Proposed Skipjack Grove Park

Posted by Amy Moore
  • Attached is the plan for the proposed Skipjack Grove park, which the Town has been approved grant funding for in the amount of $120,000 from the State of Maryland, Dept. of Natural Resources Progam Open Space.
  • The park will include a boardwalk connecting the wastewater treatment plant property to the Town Dock on Second Avenue.  The boardwalk will include educational stops along the way to inform the public of various plants, animals, etc.  It will also include a handicapped accessible kayak launching dock.  The grove area would include trees that the public could purchase in memory/honor of a loved one.
  • Boat launching will still be available for town residents, but the plan does not allow for any parking of trailers.
  • The Town is looking for volunteers who would like to serve on a committee to determine the guidelines and set criteria for the park, including the memorial trees, benches, etc.  Contact the town office if you have questions or are interested in serving on the committee.
